Leonard Bernstein conducted a small survivors' orchestra in several DP
camps near Munich in 1946 -1947. I am trying to track the fate of some
of the orchestra members. The list below is those on which I could not
find any information. Unfortunately, I only have surnames for some of
the orchestra members, some given names and some birth data.
Here's the list:
Max or Maks Borstein, b 15 July 1890 in Vilna (violin) and his two sons
Eilja Borstein, b. 17 Aug 1902 in Vilna (violin)
Joak Borstein, b. 9 Sept 1904 in Vilna ( trumpet) all three reportedly
went to NYC
B. Weinrab ( trombone)
Melech Granat (drums)
E. Ziskowitc ( double bass)
Jerzy or Georg Richter ( voice)
Luba Kupritc ( vocalist from Kovno)
Rafael Wolfberg ( clarinet)
If anyone can locate any information on any of these orchestra
members, I would be most grateful.
Thanks....Walter S. Elias, St. Louis Park, Minnesota
