I made a number of request to the ITS-Germany website in early November
2007. I received their response by postal mail, 29 Jan 2008. Obviously much
faster than the previous formal request I made a few years ago which took
two years.

I made separate tracing and information requests primarily for the family of
Izrael David and Golda (LENCZNER) GRYNBAUM/GRUENBAUM and their children that
I knew of Icchok Lipa GRYNBAUM/"Louis GREER" and Brucha GRYNBAUM. Golda is
the sister of my great grandmother. Additionally I submitted a request for
my great grandmother's third husband, Moshe FRYMORGEN who was supposedly
alive in April 1939 when his daughter came to the US.

Of course the only person they had information about was a person I had some
information on: son Icchok Lipa GRYNBAUM, born 27 Jul 1923. He survived the
war relocating to the US becoming "Louis GREER" and died 11 Aug 1967 in Los
Angeles County, CA, USA.

According to the information they provided, Icchok was single, an 'electro
fitter, whose last residence was Kalkzeile Nr. 2, Sosnowiec, Poland. The
spelling of his mother's maiden name was LANTSCHNER. He was issued prisoner
number 177240 on 1 Apr 1944.

I was able to contact one of two children of Louis. His wife had just passed
away in 2001. The oldest child was only about 12 when Louis passed away. She
did not know alot about her father's experiences but she did have one major
tidbit. There was another sibling who also survived. She did not know his
birth name, but the brother (of Louis) went to France after the war and used
the name Charles and/or Joseph PIROG. He was married with one child, Andre
PIROG. Also she understood there was a sister (unnamed) who had a child.
Circumstances were not given, but supposedly the sister and child were shot
down in the streets.

Charles/Joseph PIROG may have lived in France and Germany. His son Andre
PIROG reportedly lives in Italy. If this family is known, I would be
interested in hearing from them or about them.

On one listing, dated 10 Feb 1945, there were three other GRUNBAUMs of
Sosnowiec along with Icchok:
124907 GRUNBAUM, Abram 12.5.24 Sosnowiec Elektr. Au 177269
125805 GRUNBAUM, Berek 26.9.26 Sosnowiec Arb. Au 177314
124721 GRUNBAUM, Icchok, L. 23.7.23, Sosnowiec Elektrmon Au 177240
124703 GRUNBAUM, Simon 11.7.25 Sosnowiec Handschuh Au 177320

Again, THANKS to all who responded. Just an update. I have heard from the grandson
of Golda (LENCZNER) GRYNBAUM, son of "Charles PIROG". He resides in Italy. As with
the family of Charles's brother "Louis GREER", the brothers did not share many
details of their experiences, typical of many survivors. "Charles" passed away
about ten years ago. I will be seeking further details in order to make a more
informative request (Red Cross, ITS, etc.)

A note concerning one of my many research screwups. In 2003 I made the Red Cross
trace request for Golda as well as the four KALKOPF children of my great
grandmother. They quickly responded in 2005 (quick considering the two to five
years response time). They only had information on Golda reporting her 1943
Sosnowiec death. My screwup: the response mentioned a death certificate which was
not included with their response. Of course I should have jumped on that
immediately, hoping for a cause of death which has yet to be given. With recent
contact with the American Red Cross, I have received a copy of the referenced
document. It is curious. It is a 'transcribed' document prepared in 2004, obviously
due to my inquiry. Supposedly no details of death are provided. There appears to be
an address(?), 2 Miejsce Sosnowiec. There is a another date which strikes me as
odd: "Poswiadcza sie zgodnosc powyzszego odpisu z trescia aktu zgonu Nr.1023/1950"
(Polish letters not presented) which I take to mean the document was filed in 1950?
The Red Cross is inquiring further to see if they can obtain information from the
original document. But obviously I should have noted this in 2005.

Thanks again,
